Who We Are
Camp Desi Roots is an overnight and day camp community for South Asian youth. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through campdesiroots.com, our registration process, our events, and our email list.
By using our website or registering a camper, you agree to the practices described here.

What We Collect
We only collect what we need to run camp and stay in touch:
- Contact form: first and last name, email address, subject, and your message.
- Camp Postbox newsletter: your email address.
- Registration: parent/guardian and camper names, contact details, camper age or grade, emergency contacts, and health, allergy, and dietary information needed to keep campers safe.
- Counselor applications: your name, contact details, availability, and the information you include in your application.
- Event RSVPs: name, email, and the event you’re attending.
- Website usage: basic technical data such as browser type and pages visited.

How We Use It
- To register campers, run programs, and keep everyone safe
- To respond to your questions and messages
- To send camp updates, enrollment dates, and event notices if you’ve subscribed
- To review counselor applications
- To improve our website and programs.
- We do not sell your personal information.

Children's Privacy
Camp Desi Roots serves young people, so we take extra care. We collect camper information from parents and guardians, not directly from children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our website.
Health and medical details are used only to care for campers and are shared only with staff who need them. If you believe a child has submitted information to us directly, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Photos & Media
We believe camp should be for every family. Sliding-scale pricing and partial or full scholarships are available based on need. Reach out to Prerna to discuss options. Scholarship awards are confidential.

Who We Share With
We share information only when needed to run camp:
- Service providers such as our registration, payment, email, and website tools, who process data on our behalf
- Camp staff and medical personnel, limited to what they need to keep campers safe
- Authorities, when required by law or to protect someone’s safety
- Scholarship donations are handled through a separate organization’s platform, which has its own privacy policy.

Retention & Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold, and we keep it only as long as needed for camp operations, safety, and legal requirements.
